Street Law, the Supreme Court Historical Society, and Glencoe/McGraw-Hill proudly announce the availability of a new online resource designed to help teachers and students learn about the 15 United States Supreme Court cases mandated by state standards. The web site -- www.landmarkcases.org -- provides background information for each case (at three different reading levels), activities for each case (ranging from political cartoons and moot courts to continuum exercises and web site evaluations), and a lesson plan guide that suggests which activities to use depending on the amount of time the teacher can devote to that case.

Cases include Marbury v. Madison, McCullough v. Maryland, Gibbons v. Ogden; race discrimination cases such as Dred Scott, Plessy and Brown; criminal justice cases including Mapp, Gideon, and Miranda; and school cases such as Tinker, TLO and Hazelwood. A portion of the web site links to Findlaw’s materials on important constitutional concepts such as equal protection, separation of powers, federalism, due process, judicial review, and the commerce clause.
