LRENET FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS [FAQ] - NOVEMBER 2003Because LRENET is a listserv, anyone can post directly to it. To help foster greater network participation, below are some Frequently Asked Questions about using LRENET. WHAT IS LRENET?LRENET is the working internal listserv for the national community of LRE professionals. LRENET is maintained by Youth for Justice, the national coordinated LRE program funded by OJJDP. HOW DOES LRENET WORK?As a listserv, LRENET enables instant communication for all folks involved in the LRE field. Anyone who is subscribed can post to LRENET, and everyone who is subscribed will receive the message in their email. The list is "open," meaning anyone who knows its address can join. WHO IS ON LRENET?LRENET is designed for the national community of LRE professionals. Youth for Justice offers a separate subscription list, "TeachLRE," for teachers and anyone else interested in law-related education. TeachLRE is an e-newsletter - it goes for teachers interested in LRE resources on-line. Subscribers will receive YFJ Net News and the other informational resources which are regularly shared over LRENET. Because TeachLRE is a newsletter and not a listserv, participants simply register to receive the information and can unsubscribe at any time. HOW DO I SUBSCRIBE TO LRENET?Subscribing to LRENET is very easy. Any LRE professional can go to: http://lists.washlaw.edu/mailman/listinfo/lrenet and enter their email address. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGES SHOULD BE POSTED ON LRENET?LRENET offers the national LRE community an instantaneous way to share information, address questions, and voice concerns. LRENET has been used to locate resources, discuss initiatives, and share lessons and program models. Youth for Justice regularly posts an email newsletter, YFJ Net News, as well as other information for Youth for Justice State LRE Center directors. LRENET also is a means for subscribers to announce GOOD news, share worthwhile developments, and celebrate achievements. Although not an explicit rule, the transmission of jokes [particularly about the legal profession and its practitioners] and overtly political messages or endorsements over LRENET is discouraged.
